Living in Apartment Building or a House?

In all of the time I have lived in an Apartment Building, I have never once had any serious issues. Sure, every so often, I have been fed up with too much noise from neighbors of my Apartment or had my car egged but that is something people who live in houses also tolerate from time to time.

My current Apartment Building is very modern and appealing. My apartment is large and absolutely wonderful. Either my current neighbors are not as noisy as some have been or else this Apartment Building has better insulation in the walls. My first experience in living in an Apartment Building was in college. At the time, every resident was a student and the parties and noise was very much out of control.

The owner of the Apartment Building either did not notice or chose to ignore the destruction that was occurring from the chaos. I was happy to move out after a year. It amazes me that people purchase Apartments as an investment. An investment should be taken care of and maintained. Many Apartment Buildings that I have lived in or visited have simply deteriorated.

I am not so sure that the banks who financed that Apartment Building would appreciate seeing their investment looking so shabby. As much as some people despise living in an Apartment Building, there are some wonderful advantages. I love the fact that I have no lawn work whatsoever to do. I can roam about the grounds belonging to the Apartment Building and enjoy the outdoors without having to do any of the maintenance.

I also like the fact that there is usually some type of security. I would not live in an Apartment Building that did not have some type of security available. I currently have cameras and a security guard on duty at all hours. I think that gives me a stronger sense of safety. I also know that where I park my car is now monitored.

After having too many egging in the neighborhood, the owner of my Apartment Building turned our parking lot into a more secure lot with keycards to swipe to enter and exit. Random people cannot roam through the lots anymore. Of course, I am still making it a goal to purchase a home soon. I realized that I will have to take care of my own repairs and lawn care but it will be a wise “Homes for rent” investment to others. I guess I need to learn how to mow before then too.

I have lived in an Apartment Building for almost six years now. I have relocated to different towns in those six years, so I have not lived in the same Apartment Building. However, I am getting tired of paying rent. I am hoping that my next financial leap will be purchasing a house.
