Office Design and The Executive Office Ego

Posted by hroberts | Articles, Design, Opinion | Monday 22 October 2007 1:39 pm

It is commonly believed that what separates the men from the boys is grit and determination. Most people think that, to climb the corporate ladder you have to be willing to put everything into your job. People believe that this, combined with some natural skills, is enough for anyone to succeed in the American dream.

They are wrong. What is needed, more than anything else, is a sense of theater. Although people are rarely consciously aware of symbols of rank and status within the office interior design, unconsciously we know all about them. More important than hard work, more important than ruthlessness, more important even than competency, is self-confidence.

As a matter of fact, you can see the evidence of rank in almost any artifact of your typical office interior design. Take executive offices, for example. I work in a large office, and many of the lower ranking employees are forced to work in cramped, uncomfortable cubicles. Their executive office chairs are nothing to look at, and in fact are part of their low rank.

The executive chairs of the partners, by contrast, are made of genuine leather – comfortable, sumptuous, and conspicuously expenses. This is probably much like any office interior design, and something that most people wouldn’t glance twice at. A closer look at the executive chairs, however, reveals some important distinctions between those who will one day make it and those who won’t.

Contrast the executive chairs of any of the junior partners, and you’ll see important distinctions. Mike Smith, for example, has received promotion after promotion although he has only been here for a few months and is not all that bright. On his plain desk chair, he has added a leather pad. ostensibly, it is for ergonomic purposes, but in fact it conveys a powerful subconscious message. It says that his current status as an underling is only a temporary thing, that already management and greatness or within his grasp.

Right next door, James Jones’ cubicle tells a very different story. His executive chair also has pads on it, but they are merely functional. They serve to help his back problems, but their undecorated features tell the story of his life at the company. He will never sit in one of the sumptuous executive chairs – He has twice the smarts of Mike, but less than half the ambition. His chair looks too comfortable, in fact, and he is too comfortable as well, wallowing in his position of insignificance.

Baby Room Wallpaper For Your Sweetheart

Posted by admin | Design | Tuesday 4 September 2007 11:09 pm
Tips! Ask about service locations around the apartment or your house to rent. Find out things such as, how far it is to the supermarket, the gas station, the bank, restaurants, and public transportation.

Finding out that you are expecting a baby is an extremely exciting time. Many parents immediately run to tell friends and family about the exciting news right away. Others clamor to the nearest home improvement store to find just the right baby room wallpaper to choose for their new arrival.

Preparing a nursery for the very important little one can be an enjoyable experience. There are so many adorable designs in nursery decor that choosing can be difficult. It may be best to choose your baby room wallpaper before deciding on other items for the nursery.

The reason I suggest choosing the baby room wallpaper first is simply because the walls are the foundation of the design of the entire area. You definitely want to make a sound decision on your flooring as well. Once you have selected your flooring and your baby room wallpaper, the rest of the decor will fall into place much easier.

Tips! Additionally, when you are visiting the house or apartment to rent, do not be afraid of scrutinizing every aspect of the apartment. Look for cracks, bugs, dirty spots, and any other flaws.

There are seemingly endless options in decorations and you may want to consider taking your time to find the right style that will suit your taste. Don’t forget that your little one will have certain tastes as well.

My niece’s nursery was designed around an ocean theme. Unfortunately, she likes princesses and flowers. My sister is redecorating the entire room just eighteen months after my niece’s birth. This is way too soon for my taste.

Although I like the idea of painting a mural in a nursery, it is important to keep the child’s tastes in mind. If you are going to take this route, try something timeless and classic instead of trendy. You do want the room to grow with the child without having to make huge renovations every two years.

Tips! Use all your resources. Apartments and houses are listed in newspapers, free magazines, small ads, and even For Rent signs in the front yard.

I chose to leave the walls in my daughter’s nursery as they were when we moved into the house. The room has beautiful pine wood paneling that makes a cozy retreat for our daughter. I normally wouldn’t think of adding baby room wallpaper to the room but with the many styles and selections, I am very tempted.

I like the idea of having a design that will grow with her but I do wish that I had the option of adding a little character to the room. It resembles a study as it is. Choosing very light, girly curtains and a pastel-colored rug has opened the nursery but a little baby room wallpaper would be the crowning touch.

Ranch House Designs – Why Building and Drawing Different?

Posted by admin | Design | Sunday 13 May 2007 6:10 pm

By ApartmentsForRentNews.com

Tip Clean your house before all open houses. Add fragrant flowers to rooms, mow the lawn and so on.

I’ve wanted to design my own ranch house for years, but was hindered by a lack of architectural knowledge. I’ve been pretty handy since I was little.

My father was always at work out back in his little workshop, and he taught me how to fix and build all manner of household projects so I figured, why should drawing and building ranch house designs be any different.

Tip Cost-Effective Preparations. Of course you should clean the house and mow the lawn.

I’ve never been one to let common sense stand in my way. I thought that ranch house designs would be easier than other houses, because they only take up one story, and so don’t require as much structural support.

I knew the ins and outs of wiring and plumbing, and knew a little bit about post and beam construction, so I figured what the heck, and gut an architectural CAD program to start working out some ranch house designs.

Tip Make sure there are no toys laying around. This means both inside and outside the house.

Well, as they say, live and learn. Just learning the program enough to come up with my ranch house designs was practically nightmarish. Architectural CAD programs are used by professional house designers, and ease of use is not the number one consideration which goes into designing them.

Whether you’re designing a ranch house, or just laying out your bathroom, there is much more that goes in to layout than you might imagine.

And then there are safety regulations which you must keep in mind. Legal ranch house designs don’t just incorporate floor plan and roof. You have to learn all about designing and building a foundation, and that is another set of skills altogether.

Then there are fire safety codes, legal load limits, basement design to insure water-tightness. By the time I had come up with a few finished ranch house designs, two years had passed.

Tip Raise the house a few inches off the ground to allow air and water to flow beneath. Ventilation is important for the health of your dog and to dissuade pests from invading its home.

I picked my favorite ranch house design, enlisted the weekend aid of a few friends, and got to work. It was like the whole project was doomed. I picked had picked the most ambitious of the ranch house designs, a house plan far beyond my ability.

Because it wasn’t a simple rectangular floor plan, but instead incorporated an internal courtyard, it was hideously difficult to precisely excavate and lay out the basement.

And once this was done, there was an unseen problem – the courtyard entrance was so small, that I couldn’t get heavy equipment needed for house construction through the door. I’m happy to be designing and building my own ranch house, but I’m glad I’ll only have to do it once.

Tropical Wallpaper – Different Ways to Accent Your Room

Posted by admin | Design | Tuesday 10 April 2007 4:28 am

By ApartmentsForRentNews.com

Tips! Whether you have a good rental history. Some apartment complexes will require you have at least 12 months of rental history before they rent to you.

Wallpaper comes in so many different tropical designs and styles that you’ll have a lot of choice on what you want on your walls. Don’t think for one minute that you just have to have a sunset or a beach; you can go much more tropical than that one. Know too, that using accessories to enhance your tropical wallpaper will complete the look for the setting that you want. Check out some of the different ways to accent your room.

It works in just about any area of your house these days. Even the once forbidden bathroom now can have beautiful tropical wallpaper in it. A specialized glue adhesive can be used on the back, so it’ll stick in those humid areas. While you’re at it make sure to place a border with your tropical wallpaper too. Remember though, that if your bathroom is average size a border might not be what you want. Bath accessories will certainly give the visitor the tropical feeling.

Tips! Additionally, when you are visiting the house or apartment to rent, do not be afraid of scrutinizing every aspect of the apartment. Look for cracks, bugs, dirty spots, and any other flaws.

Look through out your house, and see if there are other places that you might like to have this decorating choice. Bedrooms are very romantic when done with the right type of tropical paper. Images of a hot sandy beach and a glorious sunset could just make your bedroom a hot place to be. Elegant art deco style furniture along with a Florida theme is very appealing. You can dress it up with large wicker lamps and lots of shell art in cute set outs too. Tropical wallpaper comes alive with details in your room.

Tips! Find out how much the rent is, and all the financial details therein. This is very important for comparing apartments and house renting.

The kitchen is another place you can hang it. Galley style kitchens can be enhanced to feel like a ship from the tropics. Exotic fish with bright colors and reef designs are a nice touch you can put in the otherwise drab working area. You can also use palm leaves, and dark green palm leaves that won’t show dirt or grease from your cooking escapades in the kitchen too. Don’t forget to accessorize this area with tropical magnets, towels, and ceiling lights with the tropical wallpaper.

Other designs that you can find are not the traditional, but are still very tropical. Jungles and forests make excellent decorative uses for a tropical flare. Large black panthers, parrots, butterflies, or even a gorilla styled tropical wallpaper would look great in your den or living room. Add an aquarium of fish and your walls will be the talk of the town. Tropical wallpaper can be in neutral shades too with a hint of sandy texture for a pleasant affect on your wall.

Tips! See what kind of changes you can make to your apartment or house. Some landlords allow their tenants to paint walls, or change certain appliances or carpeting.

In whatever way you decide to decorate with your tropical wallpaper do it with style. Let it soothe you, and transport you to another place that bring good thoughts to your home. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different colors and textures with your tropical wallpaper.

Design Of An Apartment: Space, Color, Style – Part 1

Posted by admin | Apartments, Design, Opinion, Tips | Tuesday 13 March 2007 4:00 pm
Tip: Ask about children and pets. Some apartments may not allow children.

In order to create a harmonious, convenient interior in one’s own apartment, firstly, it is necessary “to plan” a living space on paper. As experience shows, drawing up of a design-project is better to divide into a number of stages, taking into account some general rules at that.

Organization of space is both the most complex, and the most interesting stage where an inventor and a designer should awake within you. And the less the metric area of an apartment is, the more actively the inventor’s idea should work.

Tip: Visit the apartment. Too many people sign on the dotted line without ever actually seeing the apartment or the neighborhood.

For example, if there are small rooms in an apartment, it is not necessary to block them up with wardrobes – it is better to move all the wardrobes to the corridor or the hall, and use mirrors and local lighting in addition to the basic one more actively in the rooms.

While planning the living space of your apartment or house, it is necessary to arm with a pencil and paper and make up a detailed plan with the exact sizes of rooms, door and window apertures, height of walls, etc, otherwise, a bought sofa or a chest of drawers can simply not blend in the space intended for it. The next stage is a color solution.

Tip: Use all your resources. Apartments are listed in newspapers, free magazines, small ads, and even ?for rent? signs in the front yard.

It is necessary to take this question just as serious. Skillfully using a color scale in decoration of the dwelling, it is possible to achieve a good psychological effect, positively influencing on a condition and mood of visitors and members of the household.

Paints bear certain energy – color can comfort, stimulate, inspire and even heal. Before making a final decision as to the color, pay attention, what cardinal point the windows are oriented at:: if to the north it is recommended to use a color scale in warm color tones, if to the south – then cold ones. The next stage – determination of style, texture and light.

Generally, in design of interiors elements of a rather a large number of “historical” styles are used. It can be the baroque, rococo, classics, pseudo-Gothic, the Victorian style, the modernist style, art dec?, constructivism, minimalism, hi-tech and, finally, eclecticism. It is clear, that the baroque, rococo, pseudo-Gothic are appropriate for country houses or spacious apartments with high ceilings.

Tip: Ask about service locations around the apartment. Find out things such as, how far it is to the supermarket, the gas station, the bank, restaurants, and public transportation.

The baroque and rococo are characterized by wide and volumetric floristic stucco moldings, painted ceilings, gilt details of decor, fabric wall-papers, a marble mosaic of floors, armchairs and sofas fitted with silk, a refined color scale which is characterized not by “basic” colors rather than their complex tones. Creating a “Gothic” interior, it will be correct to upholster walls with oak panels with carved slats and decorate one of the walls with a Gobelin tapestry displaying a stage from hunting or, say, a performance of troubadours.

Tip: Find out how much the rent is, and all the financial details therein. This is very important for comparing apartments.

A table in the “Gothic style” should be rough and primitive, a bed – in the same vein, with a baldachin and carved columns. But the most important thing here is a free, through and dashing space, elevating force of emptiness which is spiritualized by stained-glass windows. For those keen on the English classical style, The Victorian interior – a mix of classicism, Roman motives, gothic styles, rococo, the empire style, Oriental arabesques and Asian exotic will be very interesting.

The English feeling of measure has allowed to consolidate all this variety which is shown in subtleties of semitones and color scores. In such a house a spacious hall looks as a “high-grade” room with a monumental carved table, a mirror in a carved frame, a large chest of drawers – pier-glass table, a striking long-case clock, a sprawling hat tree with iron hooks, “a cell” for umbrellas and newspapers.

Walls are planked with panels from either mahogany or oak, and the ceiling is decorated with a floristic stucco molding. A visiting card of a Victorian house is a drawing room with its sofas and armchairs and a dominant rococo. Onto the fireplace porcelain vases and decorative dishes are usually placed, walls are decorated with pictures, family photos, diplomas and letters.

Tip: Additionally, when you are visiting the apartment, do not be afraid of scrutinizing every aspect of the apartment. Look for cracks, bugs, dirty spots, and any other flaws.

The most poetical and fairytale interior style is the modernist style. ? Copyright 2006-2007 www.builderstown.co.uk

Start Building a House from Your Own Designs

Posted by admin | Building, Design, House, House plans, Reviews | Monday 5 March 2007 2:59 am
Tips! Find out what the average sales time is in your area. If your house is taking longer than average to sell, there is a problem.

You probably do not want to build just any house; you want one that meets your needs and fulfills your dreams. In addition, that will mean you would want to find or design plans to build a house especially if it concerns about yourself. When building a house, you can start from scratch and have an Architect design your future home.

Those folks have experiences in design that you most likely do not have on your own mind. They are not here available just only to design the house, they could help with the electrical layout, along with the heating and cooling systems too! And other things that are needed before construction can begin.

If you do not want to hire an Architect for building a house, you can alternatively get software to help you out. These make designing and building a house a little more interactive for the family. These software packages are often easy to use and of course, the costs for them are much lower than the Architecture consultation, and can help you visualize the best home for your needs although they are D.I.Y. option.

Tips! Real Estate Agents. Yes, you can find a house on your own, but agents are helpful to assess your needs and show you houses that may match what you are looking for.

Some offer you drawings of what the finished house may look like, and can show you different examples of how to build a house with their integrated designs of any windows, doors, and other features you might have or might not to consider when you are designing to build a house yourself.

An even easier option for a future homeowner to build a house oneself might be to select a layout from homes that are already designed and laid out. You can find these online, and through specific companies. There are even some loan programs that loan money to people for the costs of building a house, and they offer a variety of layouts from which they can choose.

Though a pre-made layout to build a house is not as personal as something drawn from scratch, you may find the perfect home for you and your family. Once you have your design and the money for the loan, with all your permits, then your can stay to enjoy building your house. Think if there is anything you can do to help, even if it is only some small things.

Tips! Determine the price of comparable homes in your neighborhood. This is going to give you a very good idea of what you can ask for your house when you put it on the market.

You will love watching your new home being built gradually, and it will help you appreciate all the hard work that goes into building a house. You may even want to document the progress with pictures or videos so you can keep the memories forever.

Many consider homeownership part of the American dream”?? For most, this means wanting to have a home that no one else has lived in before them. And it will mean they would want to go building a house of their own. If you are thinking how to build a house now, there are indeed several ways to go for this, and there are options out there that some people may not have considered.

Basic Principles For Designing Your Dream House

Posted by admin | Articles, Design, Home, House, Personal | Sunday 4 March 2007 4:03 am
House Plant Secrets. How to care for any type of house plant. Answers to 1001 Questions.

Before setting your mind on a particular choice of plan or architectural design, take the time to read through the following pointers as set out below, subsequently you will be able to make a more knowledgeable decision in plan design & style choice.

SIZE

The size of the proposed house will often be determined by budget for most 1st time builders in South Africa but other factors will also play a big role. Local municipalities will always stipulate a certain coverage and height restriction for a site in a particular area. Read through your title deed for possible servitudes (areas as set out by the municipality for other uses eg. Electrical or sewerage services) or other restrictions before planning is started as these might also greatly reduce buildable area on your erf.

Increase The Curb Appeal Of Any House. 197 simple, low-cost curb appeal and house makeover improvements that anyone can do in a weekend. Free landscape software.

Take a look at the following typical example:

You have just bought a lovely stand at the coast with a great view towards the sea. The size of the stand is 600sqm (20m X 30m) with a 3m building line all around. You contact the local authority or estate architect and find out that only a 40% coverage is allowed for this stand and that the 1st floor may only be 30% of the groudfloor area to not restrict sea views for the neighbouring houses.

Building A House Of Worship. 4 Practical steps for praise and worship leader to improve their ministry.

You might be surprised how limited your building area has become with the above parameters: The stand’s building area is reduced to 336sqm by the building line alone, furthermore the coverage only allows for a 240sqm max. building footprint with a 72sqm upper floor. Therefore the building limit for this stand would be 312sqm.

How To Build Your Free House.

The above example might seem irrelevant, but often other factors eg. Orientation of the site might further difficult the situation.

FUTURE EXTENSION

Are you planning to have more children? Do you have ageing parents that might require a living unit on your property? You might be retiring in a couple of years and may feel the need to provide space for a hobby area / workshop / library that you envisage for the future. You could also be planning to start your own home based business in the future and might need extension space to your home at that time.

According to statistics, South Africans typically stay in a house for apprx. 7 years and might move around more that other established countries, but often families become comfortable with their current accommodation and find it less troublesome to extend to their existing house than moving to a new bigger house. With the above in mind, you might want to plan your new proposed house to be able to accommodate possible future extension.

Read This: Master Bedroom Suite – Today’s new house plans typically offer a master bedroom suite. These suites often have generous closet space, large private bathrooms with soaker tubs, jetted tubs, large walk-in showers and even walk-in closets.

SIZE OF YOUR EXISTING FURNITURE

Make sure that the planned room sizes will be able to accommodate your existing furniture. You might own huge antiques or double beds for all the bedrooms. With the always rising building costs secondary bedrooms are often designed to only accommodate a single bed. You might also want to take time to carefully consider the size of the garage. A standard double garage is considered to be 6×6m but doesn’t leave any space for storage or perhaps a DIY-corner especially if you own large vehicles.

ORIENTATION

Often the shape of the site and/or possible views has a huge effect on the placement of the building, but keep the following in mind before before putting pen to paper:

Minimize west facing window openings as far as possible , rooms facing west can really become uninhabitable during the late afternoon until early evening. Also western sun can be very destructive for curtains, furniture etc. Try to minimize east facing bedrooms also unless you are an early riser, as the sun can wake one up a lot sooner than was planned. Often residences on the eastern coast of the country have views toward the east thus too many east facing bedrooms has to be considered carefully. The perfect orientation in SA for all habitable rooms in a house is 10 degrees east of north to minimize the heat in summer and in the cold winter months when the sun is lower creates less shadows and more heat radiation in the habitable rooms.

Read This: Any good how to build a dog house plan should begin by making sure the house is big enough to accommodate your dog’s ultimate grown-up size. You would not like to live in a house whose ceiling was below your head height — neither would your dog.

When planning the positioning of your house on the site, the position of sewer connection should be kept in mind – Try to keep sewer line lengths to a minimum. The garages should also be planned close to the site entrance to keep the driveway area to a minimum to keep paving costs down. (Most local authorities do however require a minimum of 6m driveway for visitor vehicle stacking)

SHAPE OF HOUSE

Shape of house – Take into account that the more complex (many corners) the plan the more the cost, also a square shape is more cost effective than a long rectangle, for example if you build a square house of 10×10m (100sqm) the total brick perimeter would be 40m, however if you build a 100sqm rectangular house of say 5×20m, the external envelope will be 50m in perimeter. The above is exaggerated, but illustrates the idea.

Try to keep away from excessive curves in the design of the external envelope, in particular when building a conventional roof and not a thatch or concrete roof, as this might require building unnecessary extra roof ridges and breaking up of roof tiles to accommodate this. It will often be a nightmare to build you might have a lot of waterproofing issues.

Read This: Floor Plans – When evaluating floor plans try to visualize how you will furnish the house and how you plan on using different rooms in your daily life. Get a tape measure and measure rooms in your current house to get an idea of how big a 12′x15′ room really is.

If the plan of the design is very complex, it might also require building unnecessary parapet walls to accommodate the roof structure which leads to extra flashing (more potential for leakage)

The House Training Guide.

If you live in very windy conditions eg. The False bay area in the Cape, you should consider building the shape not to ?catch’ the wind but with its back to it.

ARCHITECTURAL STYLE

a Lot of themed estates have been rising up all over the country for a number of reasons. If you have bought into one of these estates, you should obtain a copy of the Aesthetic committee’s rules and regulations regarding the allowed architectural styles as they often have a strict architectural theme that owners must adhere to.

Roofing The architectural style of a house often bring about many variances of roof design. Concrete roofs (Contemporary styles) typically has no eaves overhang and is not optimal for our country’s generally sunny conditions and rooms could often be very hot as the sun heats a larger portion of a room’s floor area which is retained and make the home’s ambient temperature a lot warmer.

The ?Tuscan’ look as adopted by South Africans around the country, also characteristically features very small eaves roof overhangs, which again is not favourable for sunny conditions for the same reason as mentioned above, what makes it even worse than that of a concrete roof is the weather proofing of this way of roof design. Driving rain can cause moisture to easily, and do, creep in below the eaves and create moisture leakage into the building. You might have a lot of stained ceilings within a years’ time.

Read This: Bonus Rooms (Laundry, Play) – One of the most popular trends in todays house plans are dedicated laundry rooms and the renewed popularity of pantries. In fact, in my new house we made the mudroom a combination laundry and pantry.

If you are fond of this look, consider having larger overhangs which can be done without compromising this ?style’ Thatch roofing can be quite a bit more expensive that conventional roofing but allows for a great cool atmosphere within such a building perfect for South Africa’s sunny conditions.

Gable walled architecture where the gable extends past the roof are often considered to be very attractive, but keep in mind that the roofs will have to be flashed at all the gables and if not done properly has an increased chance of water leakage into the house.

Read This: Decide and write down what house cleaning you want done in your home by the house cleaning service you will eventually hire.

Windows & Doors

Consider the size of the window openings. Windows can be wood, steel, aluminium, top-hung, side-hung, sliding etc. in the end the style of the house will mostly influence the type of window but if unsure about sizing of openings refer back to the orientation section earlier. The NBR specifies a daylight opening of at least 10% of the floor area of a room Where possible always try to create as much cross ventilation to habitable rooms as possible.

Read This: Make sure the dog house faces away from the major storm direction.

Where doors face towards the west, consider the maintenance and material of these. In windy conditions, try to keep doors screened from the prevailing wind side especially large leafed swing doors. Folding & stacking doors are great to enhance the living towards the outdoor feeling and for ventilation, but keep the width of these to a minimum as problems with the sliding gear often arise when the spans are too vast.

When using sliding doors or folding & stacking doors in bedrooms, make sure to include a window in the room no matter what the size of the door opening, as you might want to lock these doors at night time for security or other reasons and still have ventilation into the room. Often designers create doors the whole length of the exterior wall of a room and this gets overlooked.

Walls Walls can be facebrick, plastered, stone walls, stone cladded, wooden logs, tiled, aluminium panel cladded etc. When considering the above always keep in mind the time and costs of maintenance and the construction cost. For example: Plastered walls might require painting every 3-6 years but could cost significantly less to construct that a facebrick wall which requires virtually no maintenance. Also keep in mind, that a plastered building could be livened up after a couple of years by painting it another colour to give the house a fresh look, with most other wall finishes you will not have the opportunity to provide the house with a fresh look at the same low cost.

Read This: Single Level Vs. Multiple Levels – Whether or not your new house has only one level or more is really a personal decision.

Today’s Victorian house designs let you enjoy the classic style and let you enjoy all of the modern conveniences that we cannot seem to live without today. The traditional structures are created with the finest details in tact. It is difficult to tell the difference between the new homes and the old ones, other than the wear and tear on the older buildings. The newer homes are lighter and less intimidating as well.

Nothing brings the warmth and charm of Victorian house designs. The traditional style has delighted homeowners and house enthusiasts for centuries. These homes are a staple of the American landscape and can be found throughout the country. Even modern neighborhoods are not far from one or two older houses that retain the magnificent Victorian house designs that have stood the test of time.

Newer homes tend to be a lot simpler today with clean lines and modern architecture. For some of us, those homes appear to be cold and unwelcoming. Many of us miss the traditional style that can only be found in Victorian house designs. With so many old structures across the landscape, you would think that people would be flocking to buy the old buildings instead of newer, colder places.

However, many of us who are in the market to buy a home rarely have the time or money to invest in renovating an older structure. The dream of having a home that boasts the fine details and beautiful structure found in traditional Victorian house designs is buried under re-wiring and renovations that can overwhelm the ordinary everyday person.

Fortunately, there is hope for those of us who dream of having the same look and feel found in Victorian house designs but who don’t have the skills and funds required to rework the magnificent old structures. Many new developers are building brand new homes that have the traditional flair. These new buildings are created from Victorian house designs but with a modern edge.

I love the idea of living in a Victorian house, but I hate the idea of facing a dirt floor in my basement. The idea of heating a large, old structure can be overwhelming and I have not even gotten to idea of replacing the windows yet. We want every single modern convenience we can have in our living areas. The only way to do this is through buying a new structure or completely remodeling an older building.
